Welcome to Kindness in Action Essay Contest!

Kindness In Action contest

Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes, in cooperation with Leadership Green Bay, invites all girls (ages 10-18), parents, and mentors to show through images and words how self-responsibility and a commitment to standing up to bullying behaviors can lead to a kinder, more vibrant community for all.

Almost one third of students report that they have been bullied at school and six out of ten teens witness bullying at least once a day. With females, bullying often takes on more subtle but equally destructive forms. Why can't girls be nicer to one another?  Why are some women not supporting other women?  The groundbreaking documentary, “Finding Kind” addressed the “mean girl” phenomenon head on and we are inviting  communities to take a closer look at the way girls treat one another and why.

Join us as we increase awareness in our community through essays and videos addressing how bullying can affect someone’s life and how we can work together to create kind communities. We will explore the role you and others play in preventing bullying. Learn the difference between a bystander and an up stander related to bullying behaviors.  Share information on what you can do if you are bullied while collectively working towards a common goal of how to stop bullying in our schools and community.
