1.  VIDEO CONTESTS OVERVIEW

At least 10 seconds (:10) but not

to exceed three (3) minutes; file size may not exceed 200 MB

Content

Topic Themes

The video must address one of the following topics:

  1. The role you and others play in preventing bullying.
  2. The difference between a bystander and an upstander related to bullying behaviors.
  3. What you can do if you are bullied.
  4. How to stop bullying in our schools and community.

Format

.mov, .mpd4 or .mpeg

Participants

Individuals OR Teams of 2 or 3 people; teams should not exceed 3 people

Judging Criteria

  1. Video follows all terms and conditions (e.g. length, content topic theme included, no copyrighted materials in video, all entry forms completed, etc.) as outlined.
  2. Video quality and clarity: video clearly makes the connection between the population and chosen content topic.
  3. Video is memorable and interesting: the video effectively draws in the viewer and keeps their attention.
  4. Video creativity: the video is original and addresses the topic in a unique manner.
  5. Video production: overall video quality including visual and sound elements.
  6. Video is an “original” piece of work by the author(s) and does not include any material under copyright of any individual or entity.

2.  TO ENTER:

 

To participate in the contest, entrants must submit an essay or video themed in accordance with the description set forth in the Essay and Video Contents Overview section set forth herein.

 

All contest submissions must be submitted via filling out an online entry form found at www.newkindnessinaction.com (the “Website”) and uploading the essay or video, as applicable, via the Website.  All submissions must be made via the Website and by an adult aged 18 or older.  Submission of the online entry form via the Website constitutes consent by the parent or guardian of any entrant or team member aged under 18 for such entrant or team member to participate in the contest as well as verification that the content of any submitted video or essay has been reviewed and approved by the parent or guardian of any individual or team member aged under 18.

 

 

Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes, Inc. and Leadership Green Bay, a program of Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Inc. (collectively, “Contest Sponsors”) are not responsible for any illegible, late, destroyed, misaddressed, incomplete, misdirected, lost, misplaced, postage due or stolen mail.    Contest Sponsors are not responsible for technical or computer failures, errors or data loss of any kind, lost or unavailable Internet connections, or failed, incomplete, garbled or deleted computer or network transmissions, inability to access the Website or any on-line service, or any other error or malfunction, or late, lost, illegible or misdirected entries.  Entry materials that have been tampered with, altered or contain any software viruses or other malicious software code (including, without limitation, code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software, system, or the Website) are void.  If the judges determine, in their sole discretion, that there is any suspected or actual electronic tampering with the Contest or if technical difficulties compromise the integrity of the Contest, the judges may declare the affected entries void and/or terminate the Contest and conduct a random drawing to award the prize among all eligible entries received as of the termination date.  If the Contest is terminated due to tampering or technical difficulties prior to its expiration date, notice will be posted at the Website.  If, for any reason, the Contest cannot be conducted as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Contest Sponsors which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, Contest Sponsors may, in their sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest.  Contest Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify any entrant that tampers with the operation of the Contest or website or violates the Official Rules of the Contest. 

 

By use of the Website and by entering the contest, entrants agree to the Web Site Terms of Use Agreement and to the use of entrants’ personal information as described in the Privacy Policy.

 

3. ELIGIBILITY RESTRICTIONS:

 

(a)            The Contest is open to girls and women aged 10 and above, as set forth in  the Essay and Video Contest Overview section herein except employees of Girl Scouts of the Northwest Great Lakes, Inc., or Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Inc., and their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, or agencies and their immediate family members or persons living in their households. 

 

 (b) All entries become the sole property of the Contest Sponsors and will not be returned.  By entering, entrants agree to abide by these rules, and warrant and represent that their entry is their original work, and grant to Station the right to edit, publish, promote and otherwise use their entries without further permission, notice or compensation.

 

(c)  To the extent any entries may not become the sole property of the Contest Sponsors, by operation of law or otherwise, all entrants, including the members of any team entrant, grant to the Contest Sponsors a perpetual, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free and fully paid license to use, copy, print, display, reproduce, modify, publish, post, transmit and/or use (collectively, “Use”) the entries, and all components thereof, consent to such Use on the Internet, television and all other media; and agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Contest Sponsors and their affiliates, directors, officers and employees from any and all claims and expenses (including actual attorney’s fees), of whatever type or nature, arising from the any Use of the entry or any component thereof.

 

4. SELECTION OF WINNERS:

 

(a)  Decisions of the Contest Sponsors with respect to the contest are final.

 

(b)  A panel of judges selected by the Contest Sponsors will review every eligible contest submission and will score such entries.  Judging will be based on the Judging Criteria set forth in the Essay and Video Contests overview section hereof.  Judging will occur between April 26 and May 4, 2014.  Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.

 

(c)  Winners will be notified via telephone by May 9, 2014.  Winning videos will be shown at the “Kindness Gala” scheduled for May 21, 2014.  All context winners (essay or video) will be invited to and expected to attend the “Kindness Gala.”

 


5. PRIZES

 

(a)  DESCRIPTION OF PRIZES

Awards will be given out to 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place contestants for each age category as determined by the judges.  Awards will consist of the following:

            •           1st Place includes $150 Cash and Gift Certificate Prize Package*

            •           2nd Place includes $100 Cash and Gift Certificate Prize Package*

            •           3rd Place includes $50  Cash and  Gift Certificate Prize Package*

*Gift Certificate Prize Package will consist of gift certificates from various Northeast Wisconsin retailers with the purpose of promoting friendship and spending quality time with peers and/or mentors.

           

(b)  Contest prizes are not transferable.  Prizes may not be substituted for or redeemed for cash and there are no cash equivalents.  The Contest Sponsors reserve the right to substitute prize of comparable value. 

 

(c)  All prizes will be presented to the winners at the “Kindness Gala” scheduled for May 21 2014.  In the event a winner cannot attend the “Kindness Gala” on May 21, 2014, prizes will be available for pick up from the Contest Sponsors until June 6, 2014.  All prizes not claimed by June 6, 2014, will be subject to forfeiture.

 

(d) All prize winners and one guest will have a free ticket to attend the “Kindness Gala” dinner event. Additional guests of all prize winners can attend with $20 entry tickets.

 

6.  CONDITIONS

 

All expenses on receipt and use of prize, and all federal, state and local taxes, are the sole responsibility of winners.  Winners may receive an IRS Form 1099 or equivalent from the Contest Sponsors.

 

By participating in the contest, the winners agrees to have their name, voice, or likeness used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest, and to sign a publicity release, affidavit of eligibility and release of liability prior to acceptance of the prize.  By accepting the prize, winners: (a) grant the Project Sponsors the right to use their name, voice, picture and/or likeness for purposes of advertising and publicity in any and all media now known or hereafter invented, without further permission or additional compensation (except where prohibited by law); and (b) agree to release Girl Scouts of the Northwest Great Lakes, Inc., Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Inc., their respective parents and subsidiaries, and their respective advertising, promotion and production agencies from any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership or use of the prize or while preparing for, participating in, and/or traveling to any prize-related activity, including use of their likeness. 

 

The Contest Sponsors reserve the right to make changes in the rules of the contest, which will become effective upon announcement.

 

No purchase is necessary. The contest is void where prohibited.

 

Failure to comply with the contest rules may result in a contestant's disqualification.

No purchase necessary. One valid entry per contestant.  This contest is the property of Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes and Leadership Green Bay.  Woodward Communications holds no liability in the execution or fulfillment of this contest.  


This contest is void where prohibited by law.

Winners will be notified by email. If a winner is unreachable after seven (7) days, or if that winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected. If WKSZ-FM cannot find an eligible winner for the prize, that prize will not be awarded.

Only one registered account per voter. If multiple accounts are detected for a single voter, they will be disabled and votes disqualified.

Employees of WKSZ-FM, its respective parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising sponsors and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of each are not eligible.

Contest entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the contest commissioners, which are final on all matters pertaining to the contest.

Entrants further grant to WKSZ-FM the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the Contest.

WKSZ-FM reserves the right to use any and all information related to the Contest, including information on contestants obtained through the contest, for marketing purposes or any other purpose, unless prohibited by law.

The Contest and all of the related pages, contents and code are copyright, UPICKEM, and/or WKSZ-FM. Copying or unauthorized use of any copyrighted materials, trademarks or any other intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.

Each winner, by acceptance of the prize, agrees to release all Sponsors, and their parent and subsidiary companies, their officers, directors, employees, agents, shareholders, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, and advertising agencies from all liability, claims, or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, or use of the prize.

UPICKEM and WKSZ-FM are not responsible for Internet crashes or slowdowns caused by network congestion, viruses, sabotage, satellite failures, phone line failures, electrical outages, natural disasters or acts of man or God.

Each winner is responsible for all federal, state and local taxes and will be required to complete an IRS form W-9. Sponsor reserves the right to withhold prizes until completed form W-9 is received.

This contest is not intended for gambling. If it is determined that a contestant is using the contest for gambling purposes they will be disqualified and reported to authorities.

WKSZ-FM reserves the right to change the rules at any time.
